Khanna police detains a Rajasthan resident after gold jewelry recovered from him
LUDHIANA: Doraha Police detained a Rajasthan resident after gold jewelry worth about twenty lakhs was recovered from him at a check post in the area. He was identified as 35 years old Munshi Jatinder Mankaas of Bas Budana in Jhunjunu of Rajasthan. Police officials said that policemen stopped a bus from Ambala to Ludhiana for checking at First Aid check post in Doraha on Monday.
They added that during checking, cops found gold jewelry in a Back Pack of the Jatinder and informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Khanna Jasvir Singh and Sales Tax department in Ludhiana. Cops said that after that SP Jasvir Singh informed Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) Ludhiana Major Manmohan Singh and Inspector Parminder Kaur of Excise and sale tax department.
They added that the bag of the Jatinder was check in presence of these officials and 12 pieces of gold jewelry including bangles, Chains and Bracelets etc was recovered from the same. Police officials said that the Jatinder was then handed over to Excise and Taxation Department for further investigation.
Station House Officer (SHO) Doraha Police Station Inspector Manjeet Singh said that Jatinder couldn’t produce documents to carry such quantity of Gold jewelry. He added that estimated cost of the recovered gold jewelry is around twenty lakhs.
